Did you know that in the Philippines there is no fluoride in the water? Because of decaying teeth, most Filipinos rarely smile and will cover their mouth when speaking to you. It’s particularly sad to see many young adults, teens and kids missing teeth. Change Your Stars partnered with native Filipina, Dr. Merlyn Mathews, and her team to give dental exams to the students of Oprra National High School in Cebu. For three days, hundreds of students came and allowed the dentist to check their teeth. There were only a handful of kids who didn’t need immediate dental work. Change Your Stars provided proper brushing instruction, toothbrushes and toothpaste to all the students who participated. By giving them access to things as simple as toothbrushes and toothpaste, they have more self confidence and understand the importance of oral hygiene and dental care.
