In the early morning hours of September 20, 2018, a landslide devastated Naga City in Cebu, Philippines. It was nearly a mile long, destroyed almost 60 homes and killed 134 people. Over 8,000 Filipinos were displaced. Many of them took refuge in community centers, high schools and chapels. Change Your Stars purchased water and food for hundreds of volunteers working to clear the debris path. Change Your Stars also partnered with LDS Charities to assemble and distribute 500 hygiene kits to the hardest hit areas. A 90-year-old woman and a two-day-old baby were among those assisted. Despite the dire circumstances, the Filipino people roseup with courage and resilience, helping one another and leading with compassion.
